Domayne PhotoStation HomePage T2 wrote in forum,

DOMAYNE Photostation is currently running a special deal of standard size 6×4″ digital prints for 15c. I think there is a limit of 200 photos per customer.

Sounds like a good deal to me! I have never used PhotoStation so not sure about their quality. From their on-line shop it appears that they are co-branding Fujicolors, which is the same as Harvey Norman reviewed here.

SanDisk 256Mb SD Card for $19 from Harris Technology

scotty on 11/05/2006 at 8:47 pm, filed under Uncategorized

Saw this in Harris Technology‘s latest catelogue.

SanDisk 256Mb SD Card SanDisk Secure Digital Card 256Mb

SanDisk SD cards give you plenty of room to capture and store all your precious photos, safely and securely. Fast, and built to last, you can count on SanDisk SD cards to be ready when you are, every day.

Advanced Features

  • High transfer rate for fast copying and downloading
  • Built to last, with an operating shock rating of 2,000Gs, equivalent to a ten-floor drop
  • 5-year limited warranty

And HT is selling those 256Mb units for only $19. You can probably buy a nobrand one cheaper on eBay — if you are willing to buy big postage for it (whereas you can pick it up form HT in North Sydney).

It’s a cheap extra storage for your digital camera or PDA.

Bargain Home Appliances from Good Guys

scotty on 10/05/2006 at 9:27 pm, filed under Uncategorized

Cheap home appliances from Good Guys Warehouse Good Guys Warehouse Alexandria is having their special sale at the moment, and the following small home appliances are selling for $9.95 from 2nd to 28th of May.

  • 2 Slice Toaster — Crumb tray / Wide slots / Browning Control / Cancel Button
  • Iron — Variable stream / Non-stick soleplate / Thermostat temp control / 1000W
  • 1.7 litre Cordless Kettle — Fast boil / Water window / Hinged lid / Power on light
  • Sandwich Grill — Non-stick plates / Automatic seals and divides samdwiches / Dual light indicator / 750W

It appears to be their normal sale. In today’s Southern Courier, they have another catelogue titled “Super Cool Gifts for Mum”. The same appliances are selling for $4.95 each! Limited stock, available until sold out, and expires on 14th of May.

That surely beats RetraVision’s sale a while ago as it has no quantity limit. Vivian went there today to pick up a HoMedics Shiatsu Massaging Cushion (which was also on sale), and said many people have bought those cheap appliances.

Free .com/.com.au domains from Jumba, expires on 14 May

scotty on 08/05/2006 at 7:24 pm, filed under General

Jumba is having their weekly special hosting plans every week. Last week they have their 50% off business plans, and this week they are giving away free .com domains with yearly personal hosting plans, or free .com.au domains with yearly business hosting plans.

Jumba free domain special 8 May

They have very cheap personal hosting plans. AUD$35.40 gives you a yearly plan of 800Mb storage + 8Gb bandwidth cPanel account in their US server in Texas. A .com domain usually costs around $11-$13 AUD for annual registration — that makes their AU-P2 or US-P2 plan around $2 a month. I would recommend their Australian based plans, which this blog is hosted on. However they seem to have server issues at the moment which prevents them assigning up more accounts.

JNC SSF-M9 20Gb MP3 Player for $180 from Deals Direct

scotty on 05/05/2006 at 10:55 pm, filed under General

JNC SSF-M9 20Gb MP3 Player Here’s a tip of getting a JNC SSF-M9 20Gb MP3 player from Deals Direct for merely AUD$180. According to DD it retails for $399, though the cheapest I can find elsewhere is around $275. It has been on the market since Jan/Feb of 2005 I think.

  1. Go to Deals Direct’s JNC 20GB Portable MP3 Player page. It is currently selling $199.
  2. Buy it with Deals Direct’s 10% off coupon. It should give you $19.90 discount.
  3. Deals Direct is also running a $1 delivery promotion at the moment. So the end price will be $180.10.

You can still get $2.99 domain from Yahoo…

scotty on 02/05/2006 at 11:44 pm, filed under General

Yahoo Domain showing $2.99 per domain per year I have previously blogged about Yahoo’s $2.99 domain sale and their indefinite extension, however since around end of March the $2.99 deal stopped showing up when you visit Yahoo domains. I thought, well, the cheap domain deal has finally finished.

Which is not the case.

Bob told me the other day that he has registered another $2.99 domain from Yahoo using a different browser from a different location. I have also heard reports of Yahoo still offering the deal. Google search revealed that if you access the Yahoo domain website with a promo code attached, it’ll give you a different price. Here’s the promo code I found:

Yahoo domain registration for USD$2.99 per domain per year

You’ll see a strike across $9.95, and $2.95 displayed underneth. However, the “small print” has some changes this time:

  • $2.99 is for 1st year only. Previously you can register up to 5 years.
  • Promotion expires on 30th of June.
  • For customer’s own purpose only and non-transferable, i.e. you can’t buy for the sake of selling.

Still a good deal if you can abide the rules.

DealsDirect 10% Off Coupon, Expires 7 May

scotty on 02/05/2006 at 8:51 pm, filed under Coupon

Since one of Deals Direct‘s staff gave out 10% off coupon 2 months ago, it has since expired, although we did purchase a few things with that code. I thought the 10% discount code was one of those once-off deal.

Now in the latest newsletter they sent out this afternoon, there’s another 10% discount coupon code!

DealsDirect Ingrid
DealsDirect 10% Off Coupon

Yes, the coupon code is:

INGRID

And it is only valid for one order per customer, i.e. you cannot make multiple orders using this coupon, although you can purchase multiple items in one single order. 10% off does not apply to delivery either.

It seems those “staff discount coupons” are actually not internal secrets anymore, but they look more like marketing strategies to me to attract customers. Not that I care, and I always welcome money saving bargains :)

Toy “R” Us 25% off Digital Camera, $10 off MP3 Players

scotty on 02/05/2006 at 1:11 pm, filed under Uncategorized

People love Mothers’ Day. It is the day where mothers around the world should be honoured. Retail stores love Mothers’ Day. It is just another execuse for them to put on sales, even the products might not be directly related. However the shoppers don’t mind — a bargain is a bargain regardless the occation.

Toys “R” Us is having their Mothers’ Day sale on their “exclusive” email offer. I am not that interested in discounted Bratz or Crazy Flog stuff toys, however as “gadgets” somehow also fit into the category of “toys”, they do have interesting products on sale every now and then. Two caught my eyes this time —

  • Save 25% on any digital camera.

Toys R Us 25% Off Digital Camera

  • Save $10 on any MP3 players.

    Toys R Us $10 Off MP3 Players

Both offer expire on 11th of May. One coupon per purchase, but there does not seem to have limit on number of coupons or number of purchases each customer can have.

ViewSonic n4060w LCD TV Here’s another temptation. Dell not only provides good price on personal computers, servers and monitors, they also sell LCD TV’s made by other companies at very cheap price.

Update: As Yang Ma Ma has spotted on Koorong’s website, this offer has been extended to 1st May.

Site Moved to Jumba

scotty on 28/04/2006 at 3:33 pm, filed under Bargain Blog

Bargain Blog now has a new domain under a new hosting provider. Woohoo!

New Domain

First of all, I think it is no longer appropriate to attach Bargain Blog to FOCUSer.net, which hosts individual blogsites for FOCUS members. Thus I bought a name — ozbargainblog.com — from NameCheap (which is my current favourite registrar). Here we are, a new domain.

New Host

The ‘oz’ in the domain stands for Australia, as Bargain Blog is really targeting the Aussies. Over the past few days I have also been trying to get my home server back into shape so I can host this site in Australia as well. Well, that did not work out. My home server is slow (7 year old 450Mhz Pentium III), and I might need to turn it on and off once a while to fix up various issues. The obvious choice for me now is — find a cheap Aussie host.

Jumba Hosting Then comes Jumba and their very well priced AU personal hosting.

I have previously looked at their free US-based hosting last year. It was a nice free hosting plan backed by a reputable company, no string attached. Jumba then released their AU free hosting plan this month, which would have provided sufficient storage and bandwidth for this blog. However just to be on the same side I decided to join their AU-P2 plan with 500Mb space and 5Gb monthly traffic for merely $2.95 per month (pay annually) with free setup.

And the best thing is, this website is only about 5 hops away from my home ADSL connection, with ping time of 11ms average. It just feels like working on a local site.

Jumba uses cPanel X, and provides many tools to get newbie web masters started, though it feels like many separated products glued together than an integrated product. Personally I still prefer DreamHost‘s own control panel. However I think I’ll spend little time in web-based control panels. Jumba also provides SSH access on request, and you’ll get shell in a jailed environment. Just feel like home again :)

So, new domain, new host. Let the bargain hunting continues.
