Crazy Shopper? Try Crazy Refund

scotty on 11/04/2007 at 10:07 pm, filed under Website

Crazy Refund front page I have just read ProBargainHunter’s review on Crazy Refund, one latest start-up that gives affiliation sale commission back to the customers. But this is with a twist — you get full refund the purchase price, only if you are the “lucky winner”. For example, according to this table, one out of 40 shoppers at Buy.com can get the full refund (2.5%), but one out of every 3 shoppers at Mr. Ink Man can get the full refund (33%). But then, if you have my luck, you will never get a cashback on this one…

I initially thought only Australian will set up a cashback site like Crazy Refund, as we Aussies are so much into gambling. Just take a look at how many “auction” sites we have in Australia that work on unique highest bids (which by the way, is not a bargain). Instead, the Yanks took the lead and offered this crazy cashback service to all the crazy shoppers across the Pacific.

Still, with the amount of karma I have, I think I better stick with MoneyBackCo who always gives back 100% commission from affiliated sales.

3%, 5% or 10% Off Selected Dell Computers

scotty on 11/04/2007 at 9:35 pm, filed under Computer

NRMA I have found some incredible Dell Australia coupon code online today. First of all, I am an NRMA member — and I believe everyone who drive a 5+ year old car in NSW should be as well. And NRMA members do get quite a few benefits and discount when you “Show Your Card & Save”. So I went to their website, and found this pageup to 5% discount from Dell for NRMA members!

So I clicked through, met a page that required my membership info. Typed in, and Bingo! A that gives you 3 discount coupon code! They cover a wide range of Home/Home Office/Professional systems, and give you 3%, 5% and 10% discount depending on the system you are buying.

Vote for this deal at OzBargain

Buy a DELL selected Dimension Desktop, Inspiron Notebook or XPS M1210 notebook and receive 3% off using the coupon code.

39103840DA83

Buy a DELL selected desktop or notebook package that includes 3 year Dell service & support and save 5% using the coupon code.

391487071374

Buy a Dell system from the Professional Series (see dell.com.au/professional) and receive 10% off using the coupon code

Latitude D620 For example, Dell Latitude D620, the standard notebook that we deploy to all our mobile employees at work (and a very fine machine should I say, as I am currently typing on a previous model D600), would be $1,905.75 instead of $2,118 (as 10% applies only on pre-GST amount).

Very nice deal! Moreover, it never asked for my NRMA membership ID again during purchase process, which means these coupon codes are available to general public! You can use them even if you don’t live in the best state of Australia and use our motoring services :)

These coupon codes are valid until 3rd of May 2007. So there are plenty of time to do your shopping.

Quick Deals of the Week

scotty on 04/04/2007 at 10:38 pm, filed under OzBargain

It has been a busy week at OzBargain! Many deals have been posted and big thanks to all who have contributed! I myself has also been busy. Our second daughter was born 2 weeks ago and I am now waking up 4 times each night :( Worse, the in-laws are here from overseas so we have to entertain them as well. Lucky I still have a few hours in the evenings catching some latest bargains.

So I shall just use this post to highlight some latest deals posted at OzBargain.

Kodak Kodak cameras seem to be on-sale everywhere. Why is that? Aren’t they as good as they used to be? My first digital camera back in 2000 was Kodak DC280 with 2.1MP, and it took better pictures than my current crappy 5MP Casio. Anyway, from the low-end you have EasyShare C530 for $99 from Kmart — not bad with a branded pocket camera. Need something more sophisticated? $129 can get you EasyShare C433 from Kmart with optical zoom. The real deal however is EasyShare C743 $148 from Dick Smith. 7.1MP and 3x optical zoom goodness — except the deal has already expired :(

Domino's Pizza Pizza! What better food feeds hungry programmers?! noneother shared with us the Domino’s Pizza voucher page that lists out current promotions, and vouchers that you can print straight out from your printer (than scavenge your neighbour’s mailbox). Now, how about $4.95 for a large pizza from Domino’s? This deal is Internet-only and expires tomorrow!

GPS Sat Who hasn’t got a GPS receiver + navigator in their cars? Hmm. I haven’t, and none of my friends have AFAIK! Maybe because no one wants to invest $600+ for something that replaces $20 SydWay and Gregory! However the GPS + navigators are getting cheaper — take this Medion car-mounted GPS from Aldi for example — $349. Or this Soniq GPS with Destinator 6 from JB Hifi — $249 after cashback. Dick Smith even gives you fuel voucher when you buy GPS from them.

Xbox 360 Core Xbox 360 Core $399 from Kmart — it is now almost as cheap as Wii, but performance wise 360 runs circles around the slow-ish Wii. Now PlayStation 3, Xbox 360’s real arch rival, has just released — don’t be surprised that Microsoft will fight back with the price war.

PayPal There has been quite a few nice deals with PayPal! Free delivery from Deals Direct when you pay using PayPal. 10% off site-wide from OO.com.au when you pay using PayPal. $30 off orders $150 or more from Home Couture when you pay using PayPal. 10% off everything from Rebel Sport when you pay using PayPal. Time for you to get a PayPal account I guess :) Moreover, OzBargain competitions can cash prize money to your PayPal account. MoneyBackCo, Australia’s Moneyback Community, also gives money back to you via PayPal.

If you have found a good deal, make sure you share with us and post it on OzBargain! Every entry also puts you into a draw of $20 shopping vouchers or PayPal payments each Thursday!

Lastly, I have some web hosting accounts to give away. They are located in LA, California — 250Mb storage, 5Gb monthly data transfer and can host two domains. They are not for the faint-hearted, as no technical support will be provided. See my forum post for details.

5% Off from Hartigan Computers

scotty on 02/04/2007 at 10:55 pm, filed under Computer, Coupon

Harigan Computers David of Hartigan Computers is offering a special coupon for the readers of this blog!

If they enter the coupon code “ozbargainblog” when they spend $100 or more, they’ll receive 5% off their total order. The coupon is good for 12 months.

Thanks David for the offer! I have a quick look at the Brisbane-based online shop, but found the selection is a bit limited. However it does have a good stock of “iPod look-alikes”, like 1Gb Shuffle look-alike for $75, and this 2Gb Nano look-alike MP3/MP4 player for $110.

Anyone else has special coupon code to offer to our readers? :)

Buy GPS, Get Cashback and Save on Petrol

scotty on 28/03/2007 at 11:16 pm, filed under Uncategorized

WhereIs Cashback I just saw this great offer on Dick Smith Electronics‘ website today. First of all, WhereIs is currently running a $50 cashback program.

Purchase a Leading Brand GPS Navigation Unit that is Powered by Whereis® and receive $50 cash back off the purchase price! Your purchase must be made at a participating retailer between 25th March and 31st May 2007.

Wow. You can get a list of GPS products powered by WhereIs from their poweredby site, and you can see cashback is available on many popular models.

Dick Smith Electronics, which Dick Smith himself sold to Woolworth in 1982, leverage its relationship with Caltex and is offering even more savings with GPS purchases. If you purchase a GPS unit from Dick Smith Electronics before 29th of April, you can get a massive 40c/litre off for your next tank of fuel.

Dick Smith Fuel voucher

From the website:

To save 40 cents per litre on fuel, purchase an In-Car Navigator from any Dick Smith Electronics, Dick Smith Electronics PowerHouse or Tandy from the 26th March, 2007 until 29th April, 2007.

For my old Nissan Pulsar N15 with its 50litre fuel tank, I can save up to $20. But with your Toyota LandCruiser 100 Series and its 145litre tank, you can save up to $58! Not bad when the petrol just bounced back to $1.30+ per litre today.

One of the best deal would be this TomTom One V2 InCar GPS for $449 after rebate (paying $499 at the shop).

Any recommended “cheap” GPS? Vote for this deal on OzBargain.

Tim Tam / Mint Slice / Quatro $1.48 from Woolies

scotty on 27/03/2007 at 6:34 pm, filed under Uncategorized

Tim TamAin’t I a big sucker for Arnott’s Tim Tam?! That is why when I got this week’s Woolworths’ catalogue, I am so excited that I have to post the deal on this blog! Oh, I actually did posted about Tim Tam earlier this year. Not as cheap this time, but still great saving.

From Monday 26 March to Sunday 1 April, Woolworths has Arnott’s Tim Tam, Mint Slice and Quatro for $1.48 each, up to $1.29 saving. They taste much better than Easter eggs (not that Easter is about chocolate but…) and much better value too :)

You can actually order them online at Woolies’ online shop. Go in there, put in your post code, and search for “Tim Tam”.

OzBargain Is Now Partnering With MoneyBackCo

scotty on 26/03/2007 at 11:44 pm, filed under OzBargain

MoneyBackCo You might have noticed that over the past few weeks, MoneyBackCo, whom I have reviewed 1 1/2 month ago, has been having a banner advertisement at the right-hand sidebar of this website. I am here to announce today that MoneyBackCo, Australia’s moneyback reward community, is now more than just a sponsor of OzBargain Blog. OzBargain and OzBargain Blog are now in partnership with MoneyBackCo, with an aim to bring more bargains and better deals to the community.

Free Shipping on Orders over $100 from Daily Deals

scotty on 24/03/2007 at 1:15 pm, filed under Daily Deals

This weekend only, that when you spend over $100 from Daily Deals, you can get free shipping when you apply the following coupon code:

FREESHIPPING

Free Shipping from Daily Deals

However when I tried to buy the vacuum cleaner + filter combo, which is $128.95, free shipping coupon code actually does not work, reporting error saying the code does not apply to some items. Not working with drop shipping items?

Anyway. You might find good bargains there, and I am still shopping for a good (& cheap) vacuum cleaner…

Acer AT3220B 32inch LCD TV $799 from OfficeWorks

scotty on 21/03/2007 at 6:05 pm, filed under Uncategorized

Acer LCD TV $799 from OfficeWorks Another great deal from OfficeWorksAutumn Makeover sale (scroll down to the bottom of the page and there is a link to PDF file) —

Acer AT3220B 32 inch LCD TV for only $799 after $99 cashback from Acer.

  • Resolution: 1366×768
  • Brightness: 500 nits
  • Contrast: 1200:1
  • Input: HDMI (HDCP), D-Sub

Not only $799 for a 32inch HDTV-ready LCD TV is quite a bargain, it is also from a reputable brand. I cannot find the deal on their online store so I guess it is their B&M store only. At this price I do not think the stock will last very long.

Interview: Raja Devanathan from Save As You Spend

TCL 37″ LCD TV from Catch of The Day — $1099 Today Only

scotty on 17/03/2007 at 2:33 pm, filed under General

TCL LCD TV from Catch of the Day After posted the previous entry, I spotted this 37 inc/94 cm LCD TV from Catch of the Day — for only $1,099 + delivery! Stand is $99 extra, but it is still dirt cheap for a LCD TV at this size.

Spec looks pretty impressive, especially the contrast, which has always been LCD’s weakness against plasma.

  • Contrast: 1600:1
  • Brightness: 500 cd/m2
  • Resolution: 1366×768
  • HDMI input.

I looked at some budget brand 37″ LCD 10 months ago, and the price was all around $2,000 from either Aldi or Deals Direct. Well, CotD is now selling the same size for $1,099, but it is today only (ends midday tomorrow 18/03/2007). However with how quick the price drops, we’ll see them selling under $1,000 in Kmart and BigW in a few months time…

More Free Shipping from Deals Direct until Next Monday

scotty on 17/03/2007 at 2:17 pm, filed under General

Deals Direct is running a special promotion with free shipping on selected categories. No PayPal required :)

Free Shipping on All MP3 PlayersFree Shipping on All Memory Cards
Free Shipping on All WatchesFree Shipping on All Perfumes
Free Shipping on All VitaminsFree Shipping on All Jewellery

Looks like there is going to be quite a bit of browsing for me to do :) So far I have found Creative Zen Micro 8Gb quite a good bargain at $269. However I am not sure whether I will be buying something that is a generation older, with a nice bright OLED screen but no video playback. A newer generation Zen Neeon 2Gb would be nicer with its smaller size and MP4 video playback, but unfortunately Deals Direct does not have the best price in town.

Promotion ends on Monday 19th of March 2007 at 12pm.
