PRESS RELEASE

OzBargain, Australia’s largest bargain website, is celebrating their 10th birthday from November
21 to November 23. To celebrate this significant milestone, they will be hosting a once in a decade shopping event.

“We decided that we should have a 48-hour sale event as a “thank you” for both our community members and valued retailers over the years”, says founder Scott Yang.

The event is offering bargains on a range of categories including flights, hotels, laptops, electronics, beauty product, wine and number of other areas. Retailers such as Cathay Pacific, Amcal, Catch of the Day, Lenovo, Wotif and QBD are just a few of the retailers offering deals for the event.

OzBargain was recently cited by Roy Morgan Research as the fastest growing site in the online shopping
category and in October notched up 28m pageviews and 9m sessions.

“The big success over the last few years has been OzBargain, a community message board for like-minded
bargain-hunters. The site doesn’t sell anything directly and instead acts as a hub for visitors (and
merchants) to share information about sales and offers, whether online or in bricks-and-mortar stores.”

“Nearly half of Australians agree they sometimes research products online but then go buy them offline,
and the success of OzBargain’s platform proves that many consumers are deeply engaged in omni-channel
shopping”, said Michele Levine, CEO of Roy Morgan Research.

It’s not just consumers who benefit. Deepak Khurana, who runs Star Jewellery Group (Starbuy.com.au) says “prior to posting an offer on or having a member post an offer on OzBargain, creates in our office a sense of ‘Manic Magic’. Manic because we have to ensure the item or items in the offer have to be priced on par with the lowest, if not the lowest anywhere, and coping with the subsequent inflow of orders. Magic, when the orders start coming in. OzBargain is one of the very few referral sites that has taken our entire website down with the traffic generated.”

“The main thing we realised was that posting a sub-par offer will lead to no results as these guys have the sharpest buyers and they will catch you out very quickly if the offer does not stand up to be the best but the overall impact of being on OzBargain for a small company like ours is amazing. ”

OzBargain’s 10th birthday event starts at 12PM on the 21st of November.
