Comparing Cashback Sites: StartHere vs. Buckscoop vs. Bucksback

Cashback sites are a great way to make purchases cheaper for consumers. E-tailers often employ the use of affiliate links, where a website puts an advertisement on their site in exchange for a portion of the sales or a cash commission for those who click through and purchase an item. In this case, the cashback website splits the commission with the user. The retailer gets a sale, the cashback site gets a cut, and the user gets cashback from the deal. It’s a win for everyone.

The two biggest players in Australia’s cashback market are Starthere (formerly Moneybackco) and Buckscoop. The newest entrant into the field is a site called Bucksback. How do they compare?

Note: The 14 merchants were picked by finding the most popular stores on each site. Starthere offers the gold membership for free this month. Percentages listed for Starthere start with the gold level. For simplicity, points sites were not included in this comparison.

The clear winner is Buckscoop for the majority of shops. Starthere only beats Buckscoop with a couple of shops and mostly applicable to those on a black member level. Bucksback failed to score the highest for any of the 14 shops mentioned. Neither Buckscoop or Starthere charge annual fees while Bucksback charges a $10 annual fee.

It pays to check other cashback sites before purchasing your product as there are some shops that offer cashback on one site and not on the other. Overall, Buckscoop appears to the better cashback site.
