I think we are going to see the online shopping mall come back into vogue after a brief appearance back in the late 90's. There seems to be a lot of "department" stores being launched on the Internet because it's becoming so much easier to setup and maintain.

Its all good till you end up making a purchase and try to get service. I was confronted with having bought a Tradmill, not being delievered on time and I was told to address with the freight forwarder. I was getting the run around from the freight forwarder. Then It appears on delivery I am supposed lend a hand to the delivery person to carry the bulky item into my home even after a large delivery fee was charged. I was pointed to the conditions section which requires the purchaser to provide muscle. One small made delivery driver appeared and required me to do the bulk of the carryying of a 150kg treadmill. I have purchased several items online and never have I been humiliated this way. This will be th last time for bigshop. It is probably a reflection of the middleman business.

Thanks for the review! :)

Much appreciated and well written. I work for BIGshop and have been part of the development team for the past 12 months or so... I thought I would take this opportunity to comment on where we are going in the next few months and what shoppers and merchants can expect from the new BIGshop.com.au.

The BIGshop merchant program has only been around for a few short weeks (3 weeks since the official launch)... hence why we only have 13 shops selling through our system. Our major goal for the next few months is to get as many quality merchants on board as possible. As mentioned we do not allow any Joe Blog to sell on BIGshop but as long as you meet our merchant requirements there is no reason why you will be knocked back. The reason we have these requirements is to protect the shoppers that shop on BIGshop. So if you own an online store and want to extend your brand through BIGshop please give us a call or simply register on line :-) we like to chat….

Just about to be released:

- Full OScommerce and Zencart integration (so you can manage your BIGshop account, products etc through your own
OScommerce and Zencart shopping cart software whithout ever needing to login to BIGshop. You can of course do this already through our inventory and order integration tools but these modules will make it even easier :-)
- A discount coupon page with a list of all current coupons and discounts from merchants (simply click on the coupon to activate it and go shopping from there...) This will be a great place to start shopping. You will be able to subscribe to this page to receive the latest and greatest coupons via an RSS feed.
- More Bshop customisation options - change the colour, theme etc of your Bshop (your shop on BIGshop)
- The BIGshop charity project. Some of Australia's leading charities will be selling their products online through BIGshop. BIGshop
provides a great platform for charities (who don't want to get too involved in setting up their own e-commerce systems) to sell
their not-for-profit fundraising items online all the time.
- A reward points system to reward loyal shoppers :)
- a few more that I can't talk about just yet ;-)………..

PLEASE!!! send us any suggestions, ideas etc so that we can continue to improve our site and systems. We will be doing our best to bring you all of Australia's best bargains together on one site so that you can shop for them all with one universal shopping cart and one account :)... isn’t it time Australia had a BIGshop!

Cheers!
