Spotted two new gadgets from Deals Direct from their latest news letter that are selling cheaply for less than $30. Nice deal for useful gadget I’ll say and great gift ideas.

Doro 840 for $29.95

Doro 840 Firstly we have this Doro 840 Cordless Phone for $29.95 (+$9 delivery). It seems to be Deals Direct’s replacement for Doro 530 as budget cordless phone, but has a much funkier design and more functionality.

  • Unique design
  • High level of reliability
  • Caller ID storing 30 Numbers
  • Phone Book with 30 Entries
  • Redial Function
  • 30 Number Phone Book
  • Headset outlet on Handset
  • 5 Handset Volume settings
  • Menu Navigation
  • 3 Ring tones
  • 4 Volume settings
  • up to 300m Range
  • up to 100 Hours standby
  • up to 10 Hours continuous talk time

Just like when you have wireless Internet at home, it is hard to go back to the wired one, it is also quite difficult to go back to the corded phone when you have started using a cordless one (I know — I have a set of Doro 850’s at home). This gives you so much more flexibility when you are making calls — at such a cheap entry price.

MP3 Player for $29.95

Compact MP3 Player Secondly there is this Sleek & Compact MP3 Player going for $29.95 (+$9 delivery). Yes, an MP3 player for less than $30! But there’s a catch — no memory is included.

In fact it might be a bonus. You can purchase SD or MMC cards elsewhere and slot into the player. It is not restricted by the memory built into the player, and you can also add more memory by purchasing more memory cards. Because it also came with a USB2 interface, this MP3 player can also be used as a card reader.

  • Hardware: BM PC & compatible PC, Notebook with USB interface
  • Operating system: Windows 98/SE, Windows ME/2000 XP
  • Memory card type required: SD, MMC
  • Battery required: 1 x AAA
  • SNR: 90db
  • Frequency response range: 20Hz - 20KHz
  • Music format: mp3 and WMA
  • SD & MMC Capacity: 32mb - 1GB
  • Music sampling rate: 32Kbps - 256Kbps
  • USB interface: USB2.0 (full speed)
  • Dimensions (LxWxH): 55mm x 45mm x 11mm
  • Weight: 18.6g

You can get memory either from Deals Direct (from their memory card section) — a 1Gb PQI SD card is selling for $79.95. Or you can try eBay, and choose one of the sellers that are sending from SE Asia. I bought one last year 1Gb for around $60 delivered. If the application is restricted to MP3 player, it does not need fast transfer speed to read MP3/WMV files off the card, so buy the normal speed one will be fine (and cheaper).
