Fancy the latest Intel Core Duo powered MacBook Pro (which I mentioned on my blog)? The cheapest I can find in Australia (except maybe eBay) is from Getmac (formally AppleCart which I reviewed here).
They sell the base model (1.67Ghz Intel Core Duo 15.4″ 512Mb/80Gb) for AUD$3007.06, plus standard delivery of $7.50. Quite a bit of saving from other resellers and Apple Store, who sells at RRP of $3199 (+ delivery for some). Not sure about the EDU price — can someone confirm whether it’s still a good deal?

Here’s are its detailed specification for the base model:
| Processor | 1.67Ghz Intel Core Duo |
|---|---|
| Memory | 512Mb 667Mhz DDR2 |
| Display | 15.4″ LCD at 1440×900 |
| Graphics | ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with 128Mb GDDR3 SDRAM |
| Hard Disk | 80Gb SATA 5,400RPM drives |
| Optical Drive | Slot-loading SuperDrive |
| Network | 1000Base-T + 802.11g wireless + Bluetooth 2.0 |
| Expansion | Firewire 400 + 2x USB 2.0 + ExpressCard/24 |
| Cost | AUD$3,199 RRP |

EDU price from the Apple Store is $2,814.90.
That’s quite a lot of saving for those who can take advantage of EDU price!
Education price is typically 10% lower than RRP, this one’s here is about 12%.
Hi Guys, thanks for the write up,
Unfortunately, we cant offer an EDU yet but were working on it. If you give us a call and mention this site will take another 1% off the total.
:)
thanks again.
